All Gold and Silver Maple coins have the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse face. As Canada is under the British Monarch, Canadian Maple Coins have the effigy of her Majesty on them. Additionally, the obverse face also includes the $20 face value and the mintage year of the Gold coin.
The reverse face of the Maple coins contain the sugar maple leaf. This design by Walter Ott has been used since 1979 on the Gold maples. Moreover, the .9999 purity level is written in French – Canada’s second language.
