Canadian Wildlife Series, the North American Pronghorn Antelope. The first to be released in 2013, the Canadian Pronghorn contains One Troy Ounce of .9999 Fine Silver and boasts a face value of $5.

The Silver Antelope’s reverse features a graceful walking Pronghorn, designed by famed Canadian artist, Emily S. Damstra. Though technically not an antelope, the North American Pronghorn is one of the fastest-running mammals to live in the Western Hemisphere. And as the last surviving member of the Antilocapridae family, the sprightly Pronghorn is a beloved symbol of Canada’s bountiful wildlife.

The obverse of the 2013 Canadian Pronghorn bears the profile of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Susan Blunt. Previous to the Silver Canadian Pronghorn, the Royal Canadian Mint issued four Wildlife Series designs, including the Canadian silver wolf, the silver grizzly, the cougar and moose.

The Royal Canadian Mint–or Monnaie Royale Canadienne as it is known in French–is the Crown Corporation minting all of the country’s circulation coins. It is the only mint on earth to issue commemorative coins in a .9999 fineness, while also striking medals, bullion coins, medallions and even tokens. It provides gold and silver assay and refinery services and runs a highly-advanced technical refinery. The Royal Canadian Mint is expected to announce the final coin in the Silver Wildlife Series in early 2013.
